Track % of Games Owned by Console. Filter by Release Date

100% of Games Owned

You can now view the percentage of games you own for any console/set on the site.

View a console page and the total number you own will be shown on the screen. We also include a nifty graphic showing you how close you are finishing the whole set.

This tool works with filtered results too. For example:

* % owned of every SNES item in our database
* % owned of SNES games without variants
* % owned of all SNES games released before a specific date (more about this option below)
* % owned of SNES RPGs without variants or homebrew stuff

Whatever you are collecting, you can track your progress towards completion.

When you complete the collection you'll see a change in color for your progress graphic too...Just a little "congratulations" from us.
Percent of Games Owned

Filter By Release Date

Filter by Release Date
You can now filter console/set results by the release date.

In the filter box, choose a date and see results before or after that date. Exclude games released after a certain date (homebrew or after market stuff), or comic books before a certain date to focus on a particular subset of issues.

With the release date, hardware, variant, and genre filters you can slice and dice the data to see exactly what you're collecting.

Let us know in the comments below, which sets you've finished and which you are working on next. Thanks for using PriceCharting.

Thank you so much guys for this awesome update! I was the one that suggested this 4 years ago and it is now complete!

@goguenator - Thanks for this suggestion. Sorry it took so long to implement. I couldn't think of a way to implement it and keep the pages fast. The solution dawned on me last week.

Thank you! Now I can finally have proof that I have every single US Sega Game Gear collection :D

Is this feature for subscribers only? I don't see it, neither on phone app nor on laptop webpage...!

Nevermind, just found it. I thought it was supposed to be viewable on our own collection page. That would be a very nice addition to be able to see that feature under our game count and game value lines.

I'd like to re-iterate the comment of where to find this... Where is the tool? It does not appear to be listed anywhere.

Click the 2nd Tab "Video games" then choose your system. Yeah... took me a while to get it too :)
I really think it would be better to have the feature appear on our personal collection page.

@anonymous - This is viewable on any browse by set/console page. If you click the example links in the article it will take you to pages showing the data.

The pages that show all SNES games, or Batman comics, or Lost Origin Pokemon cards are the ones that have this tool. We plan to add it to search results in the near future too.

@anonymous - I forgot to mention. The reason we don't show this progress on the collection page is because the "total" is different for everyone. For example, the total of SNES games includes variants, homebrew, and controllers, and systems. Some people might collect all of that, while others only collect a subset. If we let people filter the list of what they are collecting we can know the actual "total" for what they are actually collecting.

> Can you make it to where you can change it to sort by price. Like where you can pick a preferred setting

Do you mean sorting the browse by console pages to be sorted by price? That option already exists and the change becomes your default for future visits.

If you mean having this option on some other page please let me know what page that is and I will look into that.

Hi. Would it be possible to fix the mobile/phone site glitch where you’re unable to select the YEAR under “Release Date” tab? It shows the same year, and you can only scroll through the months. As always thank you!

Can you track any consoles collection or is it just the she's?

JJ Hendricks said...

@anonymous - The tool works with any console or set. NES, SNES, Gamecube, anything. Pokemon cards, Magic Cards, comics, etc.

@Retrojunkiemonkey - Can you email me a screenshot of the year selection tool on your phone? That is something that is browser specific. On my phone you can click the year in the upper corner of the form where you can edit the date.

I really appreciate this. I had selected Gameye as my collection tracker for exactly this feature but you guys are a lot more stable and this is more in-depth than theirs. Now I can finally see a real, progressing version of my Xbox collection percentage.

seems to be a bug specific to the PAL Sega Master System full list, it does not expand no matter what view/shortcut you use

JJ Hendricks said...

@anonymous - Sorry for any problem. I'm not sure I understand the problem. You visit this page on the site:
https://www.pricecharting.com/console/pal-sega-master-system

But you can't expand it? I'm not sure what you mean by expand. The list has 44 items. If I exclude hardware, there are 41 items. If use Action and Adventure genre only I see 23 items.

Anonymous said...

@JJ Hendricks on the PAL Master System there are 311 items total, only the first 44(?) are visible, same for other systems, however on other systems you scroll down and "more results" button is at the bottom and the list auto-loads the next 40ish titles, but on the PAL Master System list it does not auto-load neither does it show the "more results" button.

@anonymous - Thank you for letting me know. It looks like it is a release date issue. We don't have the release date for most of those games and they are being excluded from the results if they don't have a release date. If you visit a page like this with the release date cleared out, all the items appear.

https://www.pricecharting.com/console/pal-sega-master-system?sort=highest-price&genre-name=&exclude-variants=false&exclude-hardware=false&when=before&release-date=0001-01-01

I'll look into fix for this so the full list shows up by default.

@anonymous - This issue with PAL Master System should be fixed now.

Where is the tool? Thanks

The tool automatically displays on every set/console page and search result page.
